Coexistence of sodium and chloride channelopathies: A complex phenotype with features of myotonia congenita and paramyotonia congenita
Non-dystrophic myotonias (NDM) encompass chloride and sodium channelopathy disorders. This case study presents a 34-year-old female patient with a complex phenotype involving features of both myotonia congenita (MC) and paramyotonia congenita (PMC). Initially presenting with asthenia, weakness, and limb stiffness in her second decade of life, her symptoms gradually worsened over time. She experienced frequent retrosternal compression, tachycardia, stiffness, and symmetrical pain in her lower limbs. Clinical examination and electromyography confirmed severe lid lag myotonia, hypertrophy in all four limbs, and myotonic discharges. Exposure to cold triggered her symptoms, significantly impacting her daily life. Initial treatment with mexiletine was switched to acetazolamide due to gastrointestinal side effects. Genetic analysis revealed a new variant, p.Glu1607del, in SCN4A and homozygosity for p.Met485Val in CLCN1. This case underscores the importance of accurate diagnosis and appropriate therapy guided by an expert neurologist.

Loss follow up for standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment: which is the common age group? – a report from endemic area in Indochina.
Sriwijitalai W, Forcanes P. Loss follow up for standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment: which is the common age group? – a report from endemic area in Indochina. Adv Trop Med Pub Health Int. 2019; 9: 31 - 35.
ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis is an important common problematic respiratory tract infection that is common in poor countries. This disease is prevalent in Indochina in the present day. There is a requirement for proper management of the infection by active case diagnosis and prompt treatment by standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment regimen. The important consideration of the standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment is the completeness of the treatment course. Loss of follow up is a common problem in the developing countries. In the present report, the authors hereby summarize the data on the standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment in a rural province of Thailand, a country located at tropical Indochina. The authors specifically analyzed on the clinical epidemiology of the patients with loss follow up. It can show that the a common group of the patients with loss follow up problem to standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment course is the geriatric patient. The additional public health manipulation with special focus to manage the geriatric patients with tuberculosis to increase the compliance and attachment to standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment course is necessary.

Chigger bite in a traveler visiting to a Thailand-Myanmar border area
Sriwijitalai W. Chigger bite in a traveler visiting to a Thailand-Myanmar border area. Adv Trop Med Pub Health Int. 2019; 9: 27 - 30.
ABSTRACT
A tropical insect bite is an important clinical dermatology problem in tropical medicine. Several kinds of tropical insects can cause dermatological problem and this might be an uncommon clinical feature to general practitioner in non-tropical area. Here, the authors would like to present and show an example of case of chigger bite in a traveler visiting to a Thailand-Myanmar border area. The patient is a 28 years old Korean traveler visiting to the physician with a complaint of unilateral ankle swelling. On physical examination, there are several skin lesions at her extremities. The patient did not have a follow up visit since she returned to home country. Chigger mite is a common problematic tropical insect. It can bite and cause skin lesion. In a severe case, allergic reaction might be observable. In addition, chigger bite might be a vector of many tropical pathogens.

ABSTRACT
Emerging infectious disease is usually an important condition that becomes the important consideration in public health. There are many new emerging infectious diseases including emerging viral pneumonia. The Wuhan coronavirus infection is a new emerging infection that was firstly reported from Wuhan, China. Within 1 month period after its first occurrence in China, the imported case is already observed in other country, Thailand. This can show the important of migration of emerging infectious disease in the present era that there is a good international transportation and globalization.

Editorial: screening for duplicated text in submited manuscript – false positive and editorial awareness
EDITORIAL: SCREENING FOR DUPLICATED TEXT IN SUBMITTED MANUSCRIPT – FALSE POSITIVE
AND EDITORIAL AWARENESS
Joob B,
Noda M. Editorial: screening for
duplicated text in submited manuscript – false positive and editorial awareness. Case Study Case Rep. 2019; 9(4): 50 - 53.
ABSTRACT
Unethical
practice in academic publicaiton is not an uncommon problem. A commmon problem
is the duplication of already published materials. The duplicated text might
appear in any submitted article. It is the role of the editorial team to screen
for any possible duplicated text in submitted article for publicaiton. The use
of computational screening tool is widely used in the presnt day. An important
concern is a possibility of false positive due to computational screening for
duplicated text. Here, the authors demonstrate an example of false positive
case and discuss on this specific issue.
