ABSTRACT A tropical insect bite is an important clinical dermatology problem in tropical medicine. Several kinds of tropical insects can cause dermatological problem and this might be an uncommon clinical feature to general practitioner in non-tropical area. Here, the authors would like to present and show an example of case of chigger bite in a traveler visiting to a Thailand-Myanmar border area. The patient is a 28 years old Korean traveler visiting to the physician with a complaint of unilateral ankle swelling. On physical examination, there are several skin lesions at her extremities. The patient did not have a follow up visit since she returned to home country. Chigger mite is a common problematic tropical insect. It can bite and cause skin lesion. In a severe case, allergic reaction might be observable. In addition, chigger bite might be a vector of many tropical pathogens. Key words: insect, bite, traveler, chigger
