Interleukin-18 gene polymorphism and susceptibility of condyloma acuminatum
Joob S, Guran M. Interleukin-18 gene polymorphism and susceptibility of condyloma acuminatum. Adv Trop Med Pub Health Int. 2019; 9: 42 - 43.
ABSTRACT
Endothelial nitric oxide synthase Glu 298 Asp (G894T) is a genetic variant that is widely mentioned for the relationship with the risk for coronary heart disease (CHD). This correspondence is a letter to editor discussion on the publication on this specific issue. The molecular change due to endothelial nitric oxide synthase Glu 298 Asp (G894T) can explain the relationship with the risk for CHD.

Loss follow up for standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment: which is the common age group? – a report from endemic area in Indochina.
Sriwijitalai W, Forcanes P. Loss follow up for standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment: which is the common age group? – a report from endemic area in Indochina. Adv Trop Med Pub Health Int. 2019; 9: 31 - 35.
ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis is an important common problematic respiratory tract infection that is common in poor countries. This disease is prevalent in Indochina in the present day. There is a requirement for proper management of the infection by active case diagnosis and prompt treatment by standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment regimen. The important consideration of the standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment is the completeness of the treatment course. Loss of follow up is a common problem in the developing countries. In the present report, the authors hereby summarize the data on the standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment in a rural province of Thailand, a country located at tropical Indochina. The authors specifically analyzed on the clinical epidemiology of the patients with loss follow up. It can show that the a common group of the patients with loss follow up problem to standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment course is the geriatric patient. The additional public health manipulation with special focus to manage the geriatric patients with tuberculosis to increase the compliance and attachment to standard anti-tuberculosis drug treatment course is necessary.

Chigger bite in a traveler visiting to a Thailand-Myanmar border area
Sriwijitalai W. Chigger bite in a traveler visiting to a Thailand-Myanmar border area. Adv Trop Med Pub Health Int. 2019; 9: 27 - 30.
ABSTRACT
A tropical insect bite is an important clinical dermatology problem in tropical medicine. Several kinds of tropical insects can cause dermatological problem and this might be an uncommon clinical feature to general practitioner in non-tropical area. Here, the authors would like to present and show an example of case of chigger bite in a traveler visiting to a Thailand-Myanmar border area. The patient is a 28 years old Korean traveler visiting to the physician with a complaint of unilateral ankle swelling. On physical examination, there are several skin lesions at her extremities. The patient did not have a follow up visit since she returned to home country. Chigger mite is a common problematic tropical insect. It can bite and cause skin lesion. In a severe case, allergic reaction might be observable. In addition, chigger bite might be a vector of many tropical pathogens.

Yasri S, Wiwanitkit V. Editorial: Wuhan coronavirus outbreak and imported case. Adv Trop Med Pub Health Int. 2020; 10: 1 - 2.
ABSTRACT
Emerging infectious disease is usually an important condition that becomes the important consideration in public health. There are many new emerging infectious diseases including emerging viral pneumonia. The Wuhan coronavirus infection is a new emerging infection that was firstly reported from Wuhan, China. Within 1 month period after its first occurrence in China, the imported case is already observed in other country, Thailand. This can show the important of migration of emerging infectious disease in the present era that there is a good international transportation and globalization.
